I don't know if any of you have noticed a huge influx of new business lately (I hope you have!) but I definitely have seen many new clients coming into my business. While this is always exciting, it can also cause a bit of a strain as I need to re-organize my time, schedule, and approach to absorb new people into the mix. In talking with other solo-professionals, it seems that a sudden growth spurt does cause a bit of strain. A way to manage this would be to slightly stagger your new client start dates. If you work intensively with your clients- as I do- this can give you a chance to "catch your breath" and to get focused (without getting confused!). Now, what I do is aim to start a new client no more often than 1 per week- and this seems to be working well for me so far. The last thing you want to do is turn away new business- especially when people seek you out- so find a way to gracefully manage the abundance so you can eventually receive more and more.

If you want to make more money in your business, you can increase your flow of abundance by giving thanks each time you receive money for your services or products. Each time I receive a check in the mail, I close my eyes for a minute and silently thank the person who sent it. I send my appreciation to them for supporting my lifestyle! You can do this each time you run a credit card transaction, accept cash, or sell a product. Once you begin to do it regularly, you will notice that it feels pretty good- and that more and more money is coming to you.

One of the best ways to grow your business is to take all your marketing and sales actions from a place of happy anticipation. This might sound strange, but I have seen- the happier I am, the more successful I become. Same for my clients…and probably the same for you, too. Sales and marketing actions taken from a mindset of happy anticipation always perform better than those taken from a place of fear, avoidance, procrastination or dread. I attribute this principle to the idea that when you're happy, you're in a place to receive even more good things. So if you want more success in 2005, take the (seemingly indirect) path of focusing on your own happiness. You're likely to find that being happy brings you even more business success.

Ok, so, sometimes, you get exactly what you've been asking for… and it's big- wayy bigger– than you even thought of. This happened to me today- with an offer & opportunity that I am excited about- and also a little uncertain about. Mostly, I think, because it has the likelihood of being way, way bigger than I thought. Accompanying this is a little bit of doubt- do I have what it takes to take this opportunity and run with it? I think I do. And so I'm going to say yes, even though I'm a little nervous and a little uncertain. If I can do it- so can you. So say yes, even when you're uncertain- because the more you say yes to abundance, the more abundance you'll have to say yes to. Stated another way- fear is never a good enough reason to turn down a good opportunity.
