  • A New Kind of ToDo List

As a busy entrepreneur, you've probably (like me), found yourself wishing for more hours in the day. Do you find yourself thinking, "hmm… if I just had another 10 or 12 hours a day, I could finally ! get my business and life where I want it to be?" I know I have. Though, despite all my wishing, I'm still working with the same 24 hours as everyone else. :)

  • Balancing Doing and Marketing

One of the biggest challenges of any service business owner is the balance between doing and marketing. Very often, the doing supercedes the marketing, until the client flow dries up, then the business owner quickly markets, trying to get clients, and the cycle repeats.

  • Do one thing and then another.

Your business will be more profitable and more significant if you stop procrastinating and start finishing all your business tasks.

  • How to get more done during the holidays.

    1) Prioritize. Do the most important things first. Break them down into small pieces, but get them done. 2) Multi-task. Find ways to blend multiple activities into a single block of time. Not a great strategy every time, but one that can help you right now.

  • Why are you procrastinating?

Procrastination in your business usually means one of two things- either you don't know HOW to do whatever you need to do next OR the payoff for doing it isn't big enough.

  • How many goals can you work on at one time, anyway?

Over the past few weeks, I've been asking myself the question, "How many goals can you work on at one time, anyway?"- and I invite you to consider the same question in your business. When you begin your business, it's easy to get caught up in all the various avenues you could go in- and it can be challenging to move from one area to another, trying to keep up with marketing while you're providing services.

  • Is is always procrastination? Or sometimes coming into alignment?

I've noticed over the past few weeks that my productivity has been uneven. Some days, I wake up ready to accomplish everything on my to-do list, and, other days, I barely accomplish anything at all. I had been noticing (and judging!) myself on this "procrastination" when I started to wonder… is it always procrastination? or is it sometimes about coming into alignment?

  • Getting back to work after a long absence…

First, it's probably not possible to market everyday when you are really busy. But at least keep aside a half day each week to market. Plan that in now, no matter how busy you are. If you can't plan it in, it's time to hire an associate or get an assistant.

  • Clarify your most important goals.

If you, like me, have "to-do's" which are getting done, it's time to take action. No, not make another list :) A DIFFERENT kind of action. Rather than writing another to-do list, try take a step back from your work and deciding what your most important goals are right now. Then, by extension, you want to look at which projects are clearly supportive of your current goals- and which are not.

  • Get more help than you think you need.

As a result, I've re-evaluated my needs for administrative assistance and decided to triple the amount of help I'm getting. Why triple instead of double? Because I can already tell that double might not be enough- and, even if it is, I need some place to grow into. The thought of obtaining more assistance has helped me feel re-energized, re-focused, and better equipped to be successful at all the projects I'm involved in.

  • Use 5 minute blocks to overcome dread.

When I checked in with myself, I noticed that I was feeling some amount of dread- worrying that it was going to be really difficult, involved, or might require a lot of time. I decided to use 5 minute blocks to get me started.

  • Set aside blocks of time to work in.

Now, I don't know if you're anything like me, but I, personally, really dislike having days which are very tightly scheduled, especially if I have a creative project I'm in the midst of working on.
