Find easy ways to sell/market. Marketing doesn’t need to be involved, arduous, or laborious. You can fulfill your marketing tasks by simply sharing about your business while waiting in line, by hand writing a 3 line thank you card, or by tearing out an article and sending it to a client. Any of these are easy, simple ways to market your business or service.

Reward yourself for progress. It’s my belief that we don’t use rewards enough. It would be much easier to be motivated if we rewarded ourselves for our efforts. Note important business milestones, and reward yourself for them. Give yourself a reward for effort, at least sometimes.

Every business email you send is an opportunity for you to market by writing. Have you taken a look at your email etiquette lately? If not, you might be due for a slight tune-up. First, make sure that your emails convey a crisp, professional image. This is not the time, perhaps, to use heavily colored backgrounds, graphic images (except your business logo & a picture of you) and odd font sizes or colors. (Consider the business email I received yesterday which was orange writing on blue background). Next, recognize that the nuances of communication are sometimes lost in email- so I suggest that you go out of your way to be a little warmer and to explain a bit more. This can decrease feelings of aloofness or instances of misunderstanding. Finally, be sure to maintain a professional and helpful email stance. This conveys your solidity and expertise. Keep in mind that every communication going out from your business is an opportunity to market your services. Are you using these communications for maximum effectiveness?

Do you have some valuable tips you share repeatedly with clients? If so, write them down. Chances are, if they help one of your clients, they will also help others. Writing down the tips is an easy way to create a tip sheet or top 10 list for promotion and giveaway. To get started, put a notepad and pen near your desk and wherever else you might speak to clients. For two weeks, write down any phrase you say which is short, wise, and seems to help the client. Take these jottings and convert them into a top 10 or tips list format. Include your contact information, website URL, and email. Invite people to contact you for more information. Creating tip sheets is one of the easiest and quickest ways to market your business by writing.
